I sell wiring diagrams for $3 per year/model. That covers the cost
(usually!) to drive over to Office Depot, make copies, and mail them out in
big manila folder. Usually a week turnaround. Good detail, on them also, and
if extra accesories and options diagrams, those get made also, so some years
it is only a few pages, some times big as War & Peace or Ivanhoe book. If
you think this will help let me know.

  Showing at WPC Show?

Bill, By all means go to the WPC show. I've met some of these guys and they
are not a bad bunch of people. The Windy City AMC club will probably have a
few cars there. I was to a meet very much like it , in about the same
location a couple years ago. One of the Mopar guys has a an Australia
Charger UTE ( el Camino style pickup) and Australian Charger . I had an
interesting chat with him on how he got the Australian cars into the
country. The one thing I due find about the Mopar guys is they seem to like
big cars and to a degree do not care much for smaller cars. Most of your
Mopar people are into the Road Runner / Cuda type performance cars. You
just don't see many collecting six cylinder Valiants ! Any way here is the
web site for the Chicago Mopar Connection which runs most of the Mopar car
shows in the Chicago area : http://www.chicagolandmopar.com/index.asp
Chicago Land Mopar Connection .

I've got one other comment to make on the last couple days comments re:
Chrysler . A number of people seem to blame Chrysler for AMC demise . I
contend that AMC was long dead before 1987. The last cars per say where
built in Canada in 1983. After 1983 all you had left was the Eagle Station
wagon primarily and there was a Corporate edit to market the Eagles as
Jeeps !!!!! In fact I have factory literature that has the Eagle in with
the Pickups and Cherokees and rest of the Jeeps . The Eagle was an MPV or
multi propose vehicle and not per say a car. I've always looked on the
Chrysler take over as more of a mercy killing of what Ray-not screwed up.
With Ray not we got another 7 to 10 years of parts on the shelves. At
least what ray not did not throw out everything. Chrysler just throw away
what was not moving, unfortunately most of the old AMC parts where not
moving. And Yes it was probably a mistake to close down Kenosha car
production, especially with 7 months of backorders on the books for Police
cars , primarily. Chrysler was going broke again and even though the
workers had a pretty standard Chrysler type contract by 1987 the oldest
plant went first. thanks , Larry R. Daum

Ok, my Photographer buddy gave out bad info, he said
Metro, it's actually on the back of the Style section
of today's Washington Post newspaper in DC and Metro
areas of Virginia and Maryland. Orange Gremlin GT ad.
Sorry about the mis-info, I just copied the ad
agency's word , then went out and bought a copy and
found out otherwise. Oh well.

What number champion plug do you use in this motor, the tech manual says
rn12yc-the champion website calls for the rn14yc, I put the 14's in my amx
now its not running as good, I pulled autolites out and didn't take the
number off them- I think they were 65's, and their website calls for 66's

Unfortunately none of the parts mentioned in the article are available any more. But there is one way to increase internal pressure -- replace the Primary Regulator Spring with a slightly stiffer one, or put a couple washers/shims under the retainer. The spring is easy to find -- there is a clip on retainer on the side of the valve body. It's near the electric downshift solenoid, but on the main body.

You mean the FMX Ralph (not FMC), but I'll forgive you since you have "AMC" on the brain -- like many of us here!! ;>

The rebuild kits are only slightly different for the Ford FMX and BW trans. Gears, clutch plates, and bands are the same. It also has a separate bell and main trans body. If the bolt pattern is the same, the transmissions could conceivably be exchanged. I know the Ford units have a different valve body, but I'm not sure about input and output shaft splines. I have been told early in my AMC days about Hornets with Ford FMX auto transmissions, but even then I knew the BW was realted to the FMX. When I corrected one person, they got irate and told me they knew it was a Ford because Ford parts were used by the rebuilder. I didn't press the issue -- but BW and FMX transmissions share most internal parts.

Here is an article on the M-11 and how B&M beefed up this transmission. I
don't know how close it is to the M12. but maybe there is some info there
for you.

Go to this web page link and look on left sidebar for the newsletter. It is
about half way thru the newsletter page...

I heard of local trans shops replacing BW autos with FMC autos. Don't know
if was entire Transm or if just the FMC guts in the AMC case.
