It's a compact storage unit that holds music in an electronic format, it
can be used like a traditional walkman except it only holds music that
you place on it with your computer. You download songs to your computer,
place the songs onto the ipod and it plays them back. There is a line
out that can be used to plug in headphones or a direct line into a radio
to play them, there is a base plug that can be used as a line out as
well. It's really a pretty cool toy, but it's use is predicated on your
desire to get music files and put them on it.

I am a simple old man who doesn't have or want a radio in any of my
cars. I understand this is some kind of way to listen to music. Can some
one give me a definition what an I Pod is in simple 60's english that I
can understand? Not that I would ever get one, but just out of
curiosity. Thanks.
