Re: [Amc-list] mustang II front end for ramblers??

I have looked at installing a MII frontend on my '69 Rambler before - not from this company as no one made a "kit" for our cars - but from other manufacturers and hot rod shops. All told me that it was "no big deal" to make one for any car as the crossmember width is the critical measurement and they can be made in any size. All the other parts fit regardless.

Don't know if it's worth doing all that, plus you'd either have to keep your existing - not sure what to call it - but where your shock towers are. Removing that side panel would require custom fabrication to tie in the radiator support in the front and also it supplies a place for the fender to attach to. Probably be best to just remove the shock towers and replace with a flat panel.

It would, I guess, improve handling plus offer alot more options for suspension upgrades, plus give you more room in the engine compartment. While this kit is reasonably priced, unless you have the skills and feel confident to install it, figure a fair amount more to get it installed.

I'm still tossing that mod around and also going to an air suspension.

You would also have to cut into the spring towers to weld the MII spring "hats" in. No going back, but that shouldn't be a big problem if you want an MII front suspension. Anyone wanting this would probably want to cut the towers and humps out for a V-8 anyway.
