Ambassador front clip will become art. The fellow who customizes these sells
them for $2000-$4000. I'll post photos when he done, he recently did a Edsel
and a Hudson. The ironic part here is that no one would give seller $500 for
whole 56,000 mile, 1 owner car. So he bought it cheap. I bought remainder
from him. Rustfree sheetmetal for AMC is at a premium & damned near
obsolete. Especially some like the 2 year used stacked headlight fenders
like this. But no one wanted the Ambassador in year old original owner had
it for sale. I'm really on the fence on this one, as have seen THOUSANDS of
AMCs crushed in Houston pick a parts until there are no more AMCs in
junkyards across USA. There has not been a AMC anything in Houston PYP's in
5 years. So this donor car which had been sitting stuck to ground (like the
68 Ambassador DPL I parted out last 3 years, almost identical situation)
this car had not floors, no inside trunk pan, and unibody caked with rust.
So was a donor car. Owner took Sawzall to clip, did good job and is in his
workshop I was at this morning. There was a small, round AMC decal with
'WATER CHECKED' behind one of the headlights stiff from 1967 Kenosha
inspection. Anyways, the front clip will live on as high dollar art, 3X-5X
more than what no one offered for car when complete for sale. And lots of
donor parts salvaged off it for those still out there needing obsolete
parts. Just one...less set of stacked headlight fenders, grille, hood, front
bumper to go around I guess.
