Harold is correct, in Texas, you won't get a
inspection sticker if windshield has any type of aftermarket tint on it. Factory
tint, like Solex is fine. Also, if you have other aftermarket tint on your car,
mirror tint is illegal and will get you pulled over at every intersection. And
you can't have limo (limosine) tint on the driver door and passenger door glass.
There is a maximum legal tint here and troopers and others carry a small device
to measure tint if you get pulled over. If not legal, expect a $80 ticket. Same
if you have those little annoying blue dot lights on your hood that are sort of
popular with some fools. It is a easy ticket for you. Several kids in the
neighborhood had these on their ricers but disconnected them as they kept
getting pulled over and warned. No tickets, just warned, and each time, well,
since teenagers, open the trunk, check car out for more illegal stuff, just the
usual.
Back to the tint, you can however get limosine tint
on the back two doors, and 1/4 glass and rear glass. I have this on all my
wagons except the 88 Eagle. About $150 to have done, and it really saves your
interior from the blistering Texas sun.
