Hi,tho most here don't race and those that do run AMC motors not knocking your 540 as once done your Grem should be a fire breathin machine  anyway if i were you i'd get one of those header kits that Summit sells as that would be the only way you could truly fit a set of headers in your Grem.now is it front halved?as an AMC V8 barely fits so i can imagine trying to shoehorn a big ole RAT motor in a Gremlin.please post pics of your gremlin and its progress
