I believe the Maaco's are franchises, so all of
them independently owned also. The reason I mention this is because what you
might see at one place will be totally different at another, the quality of work
will depend on the crew. Here in Houston the only one I have ever dealt with is
independently owned by Gary, and if it came out like Davis' car mentioned below,
I guarantee you he would have not let me take it home knowing it was not done
right. I had a old Javelin in the late 80s I took to Earl Scheib off Hammerly in
Houston and they painted it all right for $189. Hell, they painted over a old
stripe, rust bubbles, even a poor damned bug that had crawled on the car, and it
had a tough feel to the paint, you could run your hand over it and felt like
someone threw dirt on the paint after done. Eventually that feel went away after
a few months of washing the vehicle. Damned bug was still down there and on the
stripes that got painted over, I made lemorade with lemons and used that as a
template to paint on new stripes right on top of that, looked great and lasted
for years till I sold the old car for $1200.

We took the Amc Tea, spirit to our local MAACO and got it back with lots
of dirt in the paint all over the car and they didn't wait for the prepsol to
dry off the hood before shooting it and it bubbled. They claimed it was a
reationbetween the paint and the fiberglass. Except it was bubbled on the
plastic hood scoop too. They refused to fix it so I had to repaint the
hood myself. I would NEVE take a car to them!

may be Okay but I'd beware of "Earl Schiebe" at least in Austin. No prep
unless you do it and "overspray", orange peel, runs, and I drove
from Wichita Falls for that(twice as they were going to fix it the
second time......NOT) Finally had a local guy shoot her for
    $1000. Hal
