Hershey car flea...saw the infamous 15k mileage/$15k Gremlin

Well, I went to Hershey today, and after walking the better part of the
morning scoring deals before it looked like rain, I then headed over to the
show field to check out the cars. And guess what...that low-mileage,
tawny-colored Gremlin was there, however the price was listed as
$6,975...much lower than the $15k the person online was thinking...I asked
the lady, and she said she'd just gotten a computer, hadn't been online yet,
so maybe it was one of her children who IM'ed me...I didn't pursue it. The
car looked fab, I've never seen that color before. My (new) Dupont paint chip
book, that I just bought at the Flea, lists the color as... '77 Golden
Ginger metallic..it's a pretty color, I think. The car had a dark tan
interior, not beige...thank God! I looked at the speedo and odometer...it
registered 26,265...hmm....I looked closer...the dang car has a 140 mph
speedo! Wait a minute...there's KM/H printed above the odometer...I go look
at the back of the car....there's a plate saying Toronto AMC. It's a Canadian
car! Sheesh! How strange. The car has Georgia plates on it. It has an AM
radio, I don't know whether it had air or not, didn't check. But being a
northern car, probably not! Had plain steel rims with full hubcaps, nothing
fancy. It was a super nice car, though, I must admit! If I only had $7000
hanging around...Uh, Bill, they haven't broken your company up yet, can I
borrow a few bucks? :)
Not much else Gremlin there, or Pacer, I bought a few literature items,
some Gremlin post cards, more techie reference books, and some Desoto items
to tease an Illinois friend of mine with. Heh heh, I tortured my last Desoto
acquistion until he sent me ransom money...he swore he'd get back at me, but
I've got new hostages now! Don't crowd me! I'll stick a Gremlin on that
Helmet-headed guy for sure.
The only other "true" AMCs I saw there were a '69 BBO AMX for sale, $13k
body off resto, PA plates, nice job, looked sweet. Also a '53 Nash Rambler.
Well , there were a few Mets, but who's counting those? lol. One Met had a
$1,500 price tag, looked decent in red and white colors. A few Hudsons, as
well, the convertible that showed up at the Regional Maryland AMC show was
there. I snapped off about 72 shots on my camera, not often you get to see
Auburns, Cords, Rolls Royces, etc all in one place. The ground was soaked, it
was muddy, but it didn't rain all day. It poured the nite before, alot of
vendors weren't happy with their flooded spots. Some said they wouldn't be
back. Oh well. I managed to pick up alot of literature, some I'll resell, I
got two AMC/Chrysler Crash estimating guides which have part numbers for the
late 70's-early 80's AMC cars ( Eagle, SX/4, Concord, etc.) which I'll be
reselling. I got a Dupont paint chip book that goes from early '80's back to
the late '60's with all the color chips intact, so I'm keeping that one! Also
some NOS AMc mudflaps for resell, had a 812xxxx number on it, don't remember
the rest, and am too tired to go look now. It's been a long day, and I'm
heading to bed. Whew, I'm beat! I'll drop in later when I'm recovered. :)
