Steve, Your vin serial number 136983 means that it was the 36,983 rd car
made on that assembly line that year. If your AMC was the 136,983 rd car
made, the serial number would be 236983. As an ex parts manager I had to
deal with this kind of thing all the time. Hope this helps everybody. Gary
