Mike, first I'd talk to the Manager, nicely, and try to get a
settlement. As you said, THEY sold you the tires, and put them on, so that
makes it their responsibility, if they screwed up. If they still refuse, be
polite, have them do as much work on THEIR dime as you can, then once your
car is out of the repair bay, go home, call a lawyer, and even just SENDING a
threatening letter to sue them can intimidate them, and make SURE you keep
the original receipts as evidence! I'd even go so far as to make a secret
recording of the conversation with the manager, if possible, from a phone
call or in person, if you can hide a small tape recorder on you. Sometimes a
threatening letter of a lawsuit is enough to make them pay, sometimes not.
You could even just get a letterhead from a lawyer's company and send it to
the manager, without even using the lawyer himself. <grin!> But as they sold
you the rims and tires, it should be on their ticket to pay for any damages
and resulting loss of money on your part, in my opinion. Go get'em!
