How many speed trans do you have - a 3 speed ?
This is a standard trans or Automatic ?
Your engine operates in a RPM curve - the higher the
engine winds to an extent - the more power it makes. .
1st and 2nd gears are meant to accelerate the car to
cruising speed - being 3rd gear - which has a lower
numerical value - close to 1 to 1 for a 3sp. - one RPM
of the engine .
People add more gears to get acceleration further than
1st. and 2nd. A 5 speed would be nice .
Look for a 1993 - '95 Ford Mustang Cobra on www.car-part.com
or other locater lists.
This will give you 4 acceleration gears and one cruise.
Learning to read the gear ratios in transmissions and
rear differential drives will give you an understanding
of what combinations work best for street use or racing or
strictly economy - with 6 or V8 engines
