Well, Doc, it's like this, the house we live in was built sometime around 1870 so the bathroom was an after thought, at best. I've been trying to create a nice size bathroom from an extra room on the first floor. Long story short, I decided that I needed to finish that project and leave the AMC's alone. So the wheel restoration has been stalled although the bathroom is now done. I'll probably get back to work on the Spirit wheels the week after Christmas, I'm off all week. Between now and then I'll be busy plowing the 11" of snow that will undoubtedly drift this way and that forcing more plowing. 1I'll be certain to post pictures on photo bucket and send you and everyone else the link.

Jack

Still interested in hearing about anyone's experiences in dyeing seat belts to other colors. Have a green seat belt that I want to change to black.

Thanks,

Steve

As was mentioned you will likely be best to have it rewebbed.
If you are intent on dyeing it I would try using the vinyl dye spray and primer.
I doubt that any of the rit or fabric dyes will penetrate and adhere to the webbing.
You may compromise the integrity of the belt by doing this. You will have to decide if you want to do this.

anyone wishing to comment please feel free to. *Note I bought a
set of V8
chrome valve covers off ebay a year ago for something like $24.
They were
pieces of sheet. Obviously not intended to take tempchanges from
heat/cold,
they started rusting......AFTER 2 MONTHS!!!! I sold the car so
don't matter,
but those chrome ones on ebay suck. While not chrome, I bought a
aluminum
258 one for my 82 Eagle from Jeff Kennedy at Kennedy American
for something
like $90 or so, and it looks great and fits great and well, will
never rust!

Many listers have used the spray cans for re-coloring upholstery vinyl, and
fabric. and carpeting. Most reports seem to indicate that SEM brand is
best. I think there is several specific types depending on the fabric so
look for the SEM stuff and check their instructions and recommendations.

I haven't specifically tried the stuff on seat belt strapping fabrics but it
might depend on what type it is. The old fabric straps in the late 60's
models that I have seen I don't think would be weakened or harmed by the
stuff. I'd give it a try and if it appears to harm them just get some new
or other used ones.

Too, depending upon what type they are you perhaps should upgrade to to a
newer and safer type that can't get in a bind and stick closed or something.
