It "should" not matter which one you get unless you need the crank trigger teeth/ring.
But, If I was doing it I'd probably get the one for the 01 as sometimes they changed offset designs for no particular reason at all, Beware though, if you get one from anything newer than about 87 you will beed the matching/lighter weight gear reduction starter.
   If you do not want to change the starter then get one for the year CJ you have and then bolt it all together and make darn sure you have a slight amount of fore aft movement of the converter when it is all bolted together except the torque convert to flyheel nuts/bolts.  You want to make sure the flywheel offset is correct and does not bury the converter into the pump and ruin the pump bushing etc;
