Though I'm taking a rest, and purging from too-much-stuff syndrome, still
picking at my American. Rebuilding the steering box hit a snag when I foudn
out that the box I have had the casting bored out for a home-made
replacement bushing, long ago. Good work, but the stock bushing wouldn't
fit. Took some machining but now it's better than new.

The Torque-Thrust Ds won't fit on 9x2.5" front drums as-is; have to use a
3/8" spacer, then longer lugs. Doing that now.

I've already built a new drag link (the complicated hollow Nash job, not the
simple forged thing of later years) so very shortly the suspension will be
as tight or tighter than new. It's pretty sloppy now.

Will get it realigned of course. Later this summer I plan on getting
super-sticky tires, 5% smaller diameter. This no longer commuting so the
higher revs will make it a tiny bit faster with commute downside.

Then I'll do the rear suspension. After that it ought to be a sweet rally
car. Wasn't bad in its previous state!
