[AMC-list] Subject: Shipping a car

You sure want to be present when they load the cars. I helped ship
2 full size classic cars for a friend who   transferred to the
West Coast.  Her company paid for the shipping.  The trucker called
me late one night and he  didn't want to/couldn't  get into the neighborhood,
plus you need some room to load the cars.   (A nearby street would have
worked fine.)

He parked at a nearby mall and  I picked him up and
we shuttled the cars to his truck.  It was the standard open air
car hauler you often see.   The steel ramps  bent all
the way to the ground under the weight of the car.   It took him
some wheeling & tire spinning to get the first one on. I was
terrified the whole time, amazed the bottom of the vehicle wasn't
scraped off.    It happened to be windy & freezing out and i couldn't
stand to watch him put the second one on.

I called the owner and told her to inspect especially the underside
of the cars when she got them. I didn't give her the gruesome details.
It all turned out ok, but like eating sausage, you don't really want
to see how it's made.
