[AMC-list] Mark Greenisen’s 1974 Gremlin Is a Bright-Green, Cone-Killing Monster

I thought you would be interested in this story I found on MSN: Mark Greenisen’s 1974 Gremlin Is a Bright-Green, Cone-Killing Monster http://a.msn.com/08/en-us/AAmJQq2?ocid=se

Don’t know specification for the cam but in the article they termed ‘mild cam’. Compression ratio is not listed but results were quite substantial 505 HP @ 5750 and 518 ft/lb torque at 5100.

I am in the process of having a 360 built at a shop in San Antonio and it is pricy to add the goodies! Edelbrock aluminum heads run about $950.00 each and the Performer manifold is $295.00. I’m using MSD ignition $550.00 and Holley Terminator EFI $2100.00. Compression ratio is 9:1 to run on regular pump gas. Using Comp cam dual duration 252/264 for mid-range grunt and not top end HP. Also Comp cam steel roller rockers. Shop cost with dyno run in is $2500.00. New water pump, new front housing, rebuild PS pump, alternator, starter and new flywheel. When all is said and done the cost will be about 10K or so.

Some of these costs can be shaved if you have the time and patience to do the work yourself and refurbish heads using AMC castings etc., and use carburation as opposed to EFI.

My project vehicle is a 1951 Willys station wagon 4WD and is using Dana 44’s from narrow track Jeep Cherokee along with BW T-15a transmission and Dana 20 transfer.
