Auction in Virginia nets Pacer hood, sleigh, 30? misc. antique auto horns...

 I went, albeit feeling feverish and sinus-impaired, and had a pretty 
good day at the auction. I DIDN'T buy the low-mileage Pacer coupe ( 54k , 
missing front seats, decent shape ), it did go to a fellow club member's home in 
West Virginia ( Austin Wilson, take good care of it! ). I did buy the NOS Pacer 
hood there for a $1, a $65 snow sleigh ( horse-drawn, full sized ), and a big 
collection of 30 plus automobile of various shapes, sizes, and styles, the 
horns went for under $20 ( please, no "horny" jokes! LOL ). The hood is in 
great shape, silver with with red underside. The sleigh is actually only a 
half-sled, it's missing the upper "human occupant" compartment, all I got was the 
runners, step boards, and framework intact. Still, I may have fun building my own 
version of "Santa's Sleigh", maybe with a slightly Gremlinized or Pacerish 
look. LOL! 
The CJ Tuxedo Park Mark IV Jeep went for $6,400, the Jeepster 
convertible for $2,300, the Willys Ace Coupe car ( yes, CAR, not truck ! ) went for 
about $1,800. Solid but needing restoration. Various other vehicles sold high or 
low, I didn't follow the fleet of Corvairs that sold, although around a grand 
was average, from the few I overheard. The Pacer coupe was maroon, a '76 
model with rain-guard on the doors, both front and rear bumper guard accessories ( 
looked to tall for my liking! ). Austin Wilson, a long-distance Potomac 
Ramblers club member, bought the Pacer for $200-250, not sure exact. It wass a 
sweet car, missing the lower part of the front seats. But overall, even with some 
dings and a rust hole behind the rear license plate, the car was a nice 
straight vehicle overall. I'm glad it got a good home! He didn't want the hood, so 
I bid on it and got it for $1. It's a '78-80 hood. Not sure what I'll do with 
it yet, lol . 
Anyway, I've now officially got a horn collection, there were several 
interesting horns that the tubes were 3/4 inch diameter, and wrapped around in a 
360 degree squared circle. Not sure what they went to, or how they sound, but I 
will have fun finding out! :D 3 were VERY old, the rest were 50's and 60's 
horns of various standard modern designs. 
Oh, yeah, I also got a 3-number '72 Virginia license plate set for $70 
( yeah, but low number plates sell for BIG bucks, usually over $100, so it 
was a good deal ), 3 '59 plates, one matching set, one a CT ( trailer? ) plate. 
That about did it for me, I clocked out with a $170 debit. THEN, my 
friend, who showed up late and had to park along the main road, had his car 
towed by the local Patrol, so we had to find out where they towed his car, go find 
it, and he had to pay $75 to get it back. He said he was 1-2 inches off the 
blacktop, but the cop's ticket said it was a "road hazard"...oh well, can't win 
with those guys! I went and looked at my friend's new house, as it was close 
to where they towed his car anyway, then I made the loooooooooooong trek back 
home with my goodies. All in all, a long, but fun, day. I took lots of pics of 
the cars, trucks,and various other items there. The Model T go-kart sold for 
$1,750.00 !!! The two mini-Mustang electric go-karts from a Ford dealership 
went for $700 each! Yow! many of the fulll-sized cars sold for peanuts next to 
those items! but they were rare items, I guess. So, that's all to report, I'm 
going to cover up my horns in the truck, and get a shower, the auction site was 
so muddy, my legs are brown. Not to mention my feet, deck shoes, etc. Hope
