I would guess that it will support it's own weight okay but what happens 
when you start shifting like a mad man? I would think that would put a 
lot of stress on the end of the transmission and at least cause some 
binding. Depending on where the mount ends up in relation to the frame 
sills, I would think a tube steel crossmember would be pretty easy to 
fab up. In any case, it's probably worth the effort even if you have to 
make frame sill connectors since running over the tranny at speed can't 
be good.
