New Year's revolution, er resolution underway, cool tool used...

Well, I'd vowed to start making progress on getting rid of project cars, so
this weekend while down at my aunt's farm helping do some repairs, I
managed to finish stripping the '74 parts Javelin that was down there,
needed to pull the motor out. One hangup is it's down in a field, and
cutting the exhaust pipes was crucial. I found out about a neat tool, its a
chain with roller cutters like plumbing tubing cutters have, and it works
great! At $45 from NAPA, it ought to! I had both pipes cut in under 10
minutes, with no cussing! Amazing...sure beats a hack saw! My only
complaint is it needs hand strengh to squeeze it while turning it on the
pipe to cut it, I would like to make a threaded rod/wingnut arrangement to
facilitate more force on the cutting wheels, and less wear and tear on the
operator! But still, it is an awesome tool, and one worth having in any
junkyard venue. I'm sorry it took me so long to find out how really useful
and valuable it is!
Once I got the 'pipes cut, it was fairly ( LOL! ) easy to drop the motor
onto a '81 Chevy hood, and "sled" it by towing behind my truck behind a
building and covered it up good, as I had no cherry picker available at the
time. Will get it later, it's a nice 304/automatic, noticed some rust on
one of the exhaust valves, I'll hope it's still good! Ron Kolecki has dibs
on the "remains". Next in line for a cut-up in my second Gremlin GT with
Levi's interior, I want to bring it up north to my house for this, so it
may be awhile before it gets done, got to sell some cars that are choking
my driveway! PLEASE, someone find a Nissan lover who wants parts 280 ZX's!
If you can find a buyer for $400 each, I'll pay a $50 commission. :)
Seriously. Anyway, got home last nite wore out, but it was a very
productive day for me, I'm feeling pretty good ( for a Monday ). Everyone
enjoy the snow!

Jerry
