[AMC-List] 65 alternator

Hi, Maybe someone can help me. My charging system stopped working . In trying to diagnos the prob. I found a small resistor looking component on the in. fenderwell( next to regulator), that, when I bypass it(jump) the system will charge. Where can I get this piece, or what can I use in place. I tried a coil (chysl.) type resistor w/ no luck. Thanks,Dave
